There is just no nice way of saying goodbye.
Monday, December 29th, 2008As we drove away from Jen’s parents’ house, she turned to me and said, “There is just no nice way of saying goodbye.” Today provided quite a mix of feelings. There was the realization that this is for real–a surreal excitement. There was the sadness of saying goodbye to Jen’s father and mother, to brothers, sisters, cousins, aunts, uncles. It was bittersweet. Fortunately, the excitement of the trip helped to temper the sadness, and the demands of our schedule helped moves us forward to the next event on our agenda.
Jen and I need to express a heartfelt thank you to all the people who supported us over the last few weeks and months. It has been quite a roller coaster and we couldn’t have done it without the babysitters, the cleaning crews, the drivers making runs to the dump and DI, and those who brought us dinners and lunches. Thank you, thank you, thank you! We couldn’t have done it without you and that is not an exaggeration. Thank you!
